PAY TELEPHONE INDUSTRY SELF-REGULATION PROCEDURE

SUBJECT: Meeting with Roger Cutler (City Attorney)
UPA along with US West Communications met Friday with Roger Cutler (City Attorney) and Greg Hawkings (Assistant City Attorney). The meeting went well. Mr. Cultler along with the concent of Mayor DeeDee Coridini, is willing to let us try our "PAY TELEPHONE INDUSTRY SELF-REGULATION PROCEDURE". The City Attorney’s Office will provide us with a map of the area they want placard/stickers placed on our phones. They have asked us to implement the procedure as soon as possible.
The UPA will be meeting with the City Attorneys Office on a quarterly basis to inform them on how the procedure is working and to hear any concerns the City Attorney’s Office may have.
I feel this has been a HUGH victory for us, and as long as we continue to follow the Self-Regulating Procedure we will be able to prevent this new ordinance from going into law.
